Lifetime Vintage (US) x South African Wine Bundle

Updated: Aug 31, 2020

I have curated a bundle of female winemakers in South Africa with Lifetime Vintage for the #SaveSAWine Campaign.*

About these wines:

  • Momento Chenin Blanc/Verdejo 2014

    • 85% Chenin Blanc and 15% Verdelho.

    • Notes: This wine is open and expressive fruit and floral tones; peach, apricot, and orange aromas combined with hints of lemon and spice. Vibrant and generous palate with a soft but fresh acidity, showing good complexity and depth.

  • Aslina Chardonnay 2018

    • Notes: Winemaker Ntsiki Biyela has an incredible history as the first female black winemaker in South Africa. Her new label, Aslina, is named in honor of her grandmother. The Chardonnay is a pale straw color and full of lush yellow fruit with minerality and brilliant acidity.

  • Bosman Family Vineyards, Fides Grenache Blanc Wellington 2016

    • Notes: The hand-harvested grapes were kept in cold storage overnight and destemmed. A natural ferment was underway within two days – it lasted for four weeks. The tank was pressed in our basket press, and 20% of the wine was taken into new Russian oak.

  • Kloof Street Swartland Rouge 2017 By the Mullineux's

    • 90% Syrah, 2% Cinsault, 4% Carignan, 2% Grenache, 1% Tinta Barocca, 1% Mourvèdre

    • Notes: The fragrant nose has undertones of red fruit, roses, and hints of spice. Each variety in the blend adds balance to the wine, filling your palate. Cinsault brings perfume, Carignan brings freshness, Grenache and Tinta Barocca bring tannin, Mourvèdre brings meatiness, and the Syrah ties it all together. Enjoy now and over the next 2-3 years.

  • Aslina Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

    • Notes: This wine is made from grapes from the Stellenbosch region. It has been in barrels for 16 months. A full-bodied wine with hints of minty characters, cigar box and lots of dark fruits. Bold palate with chewy tannins.

  • David & Nadia, Grenache Swartland (2017)

    • 'One Paardeberg vineyard planted in the early 2000s provides most fruit although similarly aged, organically farmed vineyards north of Malmesbury are also used. 60% whole-bunch fermentation before maturation lasting 12 months in old 500-litre barrels. An enchanting nose showing rose, wild strawberry, and spice. The palate has lovely purity of fruit, fresh acidity, and very fine tannins. The wine has a sucrosity about it (although no doubt technically dry) and is basically dead sexy.' – Christian Eedes
